"The Lecture...charts,
via a series of etchings, the reactions of a literal-minded
audience to a passionate discourse from a tutor seemingly
deranged with enthusiasm. The book itself provides the
auditorium - the lecturer's ideas and philosophical quotations
leap from the left-hand pages across the divide formed
by the spine to reach his listeners seated opposite...The
boxed book is beautifully produced...intaglio plates set
against rich, springy Somerset mould-made paper...It is
a tender book in which the characters are treated with
affection rather than contempt..." Cathy
Courtney, Art Monthly March 1991
